Wang Xiaoying
Vice President of National Theater of China, National-level Director
Wang Xiaoying is the National-level Director, Doctor of Dramaturgy, Vice-President of National Theater of China and Vice-President of Chinese Dramatists Association, Executive Director of China Dramatic Arts Association.
Wang Xiaoying is the expert enjoying the special allowance. He is awarded as “the Excellent Art Worker” and “Prominent Director in New Century”.
After graduated in Directing Department of Central Academy of Drama in 1984, Mr. Wang continued his study and became the first person received the doctor degree of Directing in China under the guidance of Professor Xu Xiaozhong in 1995.
Wang Xiaoying has produced great many works in recent years, mainly include:
Drama: The Salem witch, Copenhagen, Jane Eyre, 1977, The Man in Wasteland, Xiang Yu, the Blind City, the Death and the Maiden, the Great Magic.
Musical: Hua Mulan, Floods in Jinshan Temple, The Wild Goose.
Children’s play: Monster Castle
Dance drama: Woman in Red
Shaoxing Opera: Orphan of the Zhao Family
Beijing Opera: Xin Qiji
Mr. Wang also has directed some plays for drama groups from Broadway, Hongkong, and Macao, such as The Unnamed Flue, The Garden Outside
Besides being a successful director, Mr. Wang has rich achievements in theoretical studies of directing as well. His theory of monograph includes:
From Hypothetical to Poetic Image, published by the Chinese Drama Publishing House, Assumption in Performance of Drame as his PH.D thesis.
Wang Xiaoying also wins lots of awards, including:
The Best Works Award , Wenhua Award (Splendor Award for professional theatrical artworks), Golden Lion Award, Outstanding Director and Critics of Cao Yu Drama Award， Outstanding Director of Chinese Theater Drama Festival, Golden award of China Perking Opera Festival, Golden award of China Shaoxing Opera Festival, award for Chinese literary criticism, etc.
